Trained as a musician and professional performer, Julien Courtois has been involved in numerous musical projects. Keyboard player, passionate about machines, electronic music and high-end Hi-Fi, successive studio recordings have paved the way to his profession in sound engineering. Mixing and mastering became his profession following the creation of his first studio.
This technical skill, coupled with a continuous search for sound quality, led him to participate in innovative projects such as the recording of the band Nouvelle Vague at the Grand Rex in Paris. The project consisted of mixing and mastering the live show in real time in order to give this monstrous experience to the public directly after the performance via CD’s.
After, he began to work with many well-known national and international artists; which included the success of the song This Girl by Kungs; which has more than a billion streams.
Since 2019, he has worked closely with Julien Collier on the projects of artists like Gims, Dadju and Rohff. With his expertise in the field, he is involved in the finalization of mixes by providing technical feedback in order to optimize the mix and thus be in the ideal conditions during the final mastering stage.
Julien is also passionate about code. In 2008, he participated in the creation of the first professional online mastering system in France, including a client area and a secure shop. In 2018, he coded >the first collaborative high definition audio player for the web, Fidbak (fidbak.audio) and made it available to everyone, for free. This application, used by 60,000 people every month, simplifies sharing and relationships between artists, sound engineers, and labels.
It is with this atypical career that makes Julien an engineer apart, appreciated for his musical and genuinely sympathetic approach coupled with his pragmatic and technical knowhow.
Since the opening of Masterplus, he has participated in the production of more than 25,000 tracks and has accumulated more than 8 billion streams on streaming platforms. Many of them have been certified gold, platinum, or diamond.
